How to Care for a Calligraphy Brush

Simple steps to keep a bamboo calligraphy brush and inkstone in good condition for years.

Rinse right after writing

Rinse the tip under lukewarm running water until the water runs clear. Do not use hot water, and do not soak the bamboo handle.

Gently squeeze out water, bring the hairs back to a point, and hang the brush tip-down by its loop so water drains away from the handle.

Wipe the inkstone clean with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Store the ink stick dry and away from direct sunlight.
